Jeanne Ruczhak-Eckman is a freelance writer, a genealogist, and a former editor and reporter. She is interested in local (PA, NY) history and newly interested in Civil War. She began writing as a correspondent while still in high school. She ran an online newspaper company for five years, which had two newspapers: the PA Farm News and SolancoNews.com. The latter covered everything from hometown heroes and new businesses to the Nickle Mines Shooting. Through her genealogical research she has gained an appreciation and new love of history. She received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Lock Haven University. In addition to genealogy and history, her interests include swimming, reading, Orthodoxy and sharing in her girls' activities.
